From 7,695 to 100,000 visitors per month

Posted by: admin In: Uncategorized

Since the first post in the 0 to 100.000 series, our numbers have soared, based purely on organic search engine traffic. No advertising of any kind have been made, and we have managed to make over $100 dollars in google adsense earnings.

The earnings declined for a while, as we had trouble adding all the remaining content to the site (we originally only release about 10% of the content) so we had to do it over, basically. This gave us a hit in the search engine rankings, but we are now on the way back, as you can see in the graph below.

In the sidemenu we did some research on the original homepage, and found out which was the 15 most popular areas and made them the main navigation menus.

In addition to making a sitemap.xml for google, we also created a navigation menu named “a to z” that contained all the content sorted alphabetically by the title tag, this ensures us that the search engines spiders will potentially have access to everything.

All our work so far have been by pure white hat SEO techniques, and just relying on providing good quality content to the visitors, and ensuring the search engines would find the content and index it relevantly.

Our profits so far have been totally relying on Google Adsense, and we have yet to focus on any other method of monitizing the site. The health related area is a well-paying niche in any language, but there are other methods that are becoming available to us now that we have proven traffic, and these will soon start being monitized.

The income have been slim so far, but the advertising can be further optimized, one of the methods could be to insert a google 250×250 rectangle in the beginning of the content, bringing further attention to the advertisers.

The profits are neglible after server costs and the time spent producing the design and moving the content as well as optimizing the result. We intend to spend the profits on two beers when we have the time.

I use text-link-ads as well, but remember this is an excersise on how to gain traffic without spending money.

On a side-note: I like the fact that you add a link to text-link-ads with your own referrer id :-)

I have left it in, as I thought it was a good idea :-)

Hi Tyler

Yeah, maybe I should have, but I think it was so provocative that I thought he deserved the link.

I did, however, while writing this comment change his post a little bit. Notice where the link is leading now? :-)
