Remove low-paying adsense ads

Posted by: admin In: Uncategorized

Several adword advertisers via the google adwords program pay such a low amount of money, that they are not worth advertising.

You can remove these low-paying sites through your adsense setup page, and this can have a positive effect on your adsense earnings.

The most up-to-date list can be found here: http://notspam.org/

You can also view Google’s own guide on how to edit your competetive ad filter here:
Using the Competitive Ad Filter

The list we will use is the one below (copy-paste to your own adsense setup)

Log into your adsense account, go to “My Account” and go to the “Competitive Ad Filter” tab. Here you enter the list from above (remember to check for an updated list), and press save. The changes should take effect within 24 hours (Google sometimes take some time to update).

Removing these MFA (Made For Adsense) sites is better for your visitors, and it can also bring in higher paying ads on your site, resulting in bigger earnings, without having more visitors.

In theory it’s better but it doesn’t take into account the timing aspect of how advertisers might use Adwords. I see a number of ads that for the majority of the day pay pennies but in the early hours of the morning pay upwards of .50 to $1.00. I’ve even seen some student loan related keywords pay upwards of $8/click up until about 8am.

It’s a very frustrating deal, determining what truly is an MFA site vs. a site we think if MFA. Just a few days ago I dumped my entire filtered list which I’ve been running for some time. The only significant change I’ve seen is an increase in payouts early in the morning.

For me this is an on the fence off the fence issue.

Hi

I can’t be bothered with anything these days, but shrug. I just don’t have anything to say recently.

G’night

  • Denny: I also found a gzipped version of C99madShell v. 2.0 madnet edition on one of my servers. It appears the only purpose served was to drop tons of spam
  • admin: Good point, I will add that to the next tutorial.
  • admin: Hi sagbee I think you're right. I should make a plugin for this. Let me think a little on how to do it, and I'll get on it. Good idea by the way
