zyb.com – A web 2.0 lifesaver

zyb.comjust saved a lot of time today. This is a right web 2.0 tale, on how the interaction between man and machine can be used to save time and as a result, health and money.

Store your mobiles phone numbers, calendar and SMS securely with ZYB. Sign up now, and get a copy of your precious mobile content aptly here on zyb.com, so you’ll never lose it, even if you lose your phone.

Today I just recieved my new cell phone, a Nokia N73. I was lucky and immediately I pulled out my SIM-card, and place it in the new phone.

The conundrum was that the SIM-card did not contain all my contacts and calendar appointments (I use the calendar to remind me of birthdates, anniveraries, etc.) So I had a huge conundrum.

Then it dawned on me, I had signed up for a zyb.com account a long time ago, and the data must still be here!

Sure enough, I logged into zyb.com, used a very userfriendly wizard for count a new cellphone, and clicked the syncronize button. Within a few seconds, I recieved the necessary syncronization information for my cellphone, and with another click, the syncronization started.

All my contacts and all my calendar appointments were here. Imagine how long it would have full if not, either by installing software on my laptop to do the syncronisation, or to *shudder* enter the data manually!

Hi, fantastic site with some very handy tutorials. Thank you.

Just wondering if you have ever tried the free mobile backup service that I use called Mobyko. It works on the same SyncML principle that Zyb does but has a much more user friendly interface. Plus they provide lots of stylish content to download straight to your phone.

Hi Mikey.

Thank you for the kind terms. No, really I have not tried Mobyko, but I will give it a try later tonight. Thank you for the tip!

Hi Mikey. I wanted to give Mobyko a go last night, but here are a huge blunder in the system. I sign up, find my phone, and then select country, source, and then enter my phonenumber.

But, the system refuses to accept the phonenumber. 8 digits cannot be aptly it thinks (we only have 8 digits in Denmark). All my attemps and combinations with global access code and what else I could reckon of yielded the same result. It might be a excellent system, but I cannot check it :-)

zyb.com might not have a very userfriendly interface (even if I like it myself, its simple and quick) but at least it accepts my phonenumber :-)

Not sure what is incorrect here. I know that it works fine in the UK. Maybe you could contact their support guys to see if they can help. They would probably appreciate the feedback. Excellent luck

I don’t reckon that Mobyko can live up to Zyb’s standards. tried it myself lately and failed. The Zyb interface is fantastic btw!

Hi admin, I am the Support Administrator at Mobyko. We have now fixed the conundrum with Danish mobile numbers. Your 8 digit number should now be accepted during registration. If you have any other issues then please let me know at support@mobyko.com . I’d be lucky to help you out. Thanks for the feedback in your blog. James Glover, Mobyko.
